Four-Valve, Single Overhead Cam
The four-valve, two-cylinder, Single Overhead Camshaft delivers sufficient torque from low to mid speed ranges for a quick response and smooth running.
Battery-Less Multi-Point Electronic Fuel Injection
The Multi-Point Fuel Injection (EFI) system, in conjunction with the Engine Control Module (ECM), injects the right amount of fuel into the combustion chamber at the optimum timing.
This system takes into account engine speed and load requirements to achieve maximum engine performance including ‘first-time, every-time’ hot and cold starting, improved fuel efficiency, excellent throttle response, clean and efficient combustion and lower exhaust emissions.
The F25 is the first battery-less fuel injection system in Yamaha’s four-stroke range, making engine set-up more simple and convenient for pull-start models. Electric start models require a battery.
Variable Trolling Control
Yamaha’s variable trolling control allows you to precisely adjust the engine’s idling speed from 750 to 1050 RPM, in 50 RPM increments. The ability to finely tune the trolling speed allows fisherman to perfect their lure presentation when chasing different species of fish
Ergonomic Carry and Control Handles
Large comfortable grips located on the front and back of the engine make carrying, mounting and removing the engine easier. The tiller handle (optional) folds neatly back to make the engine even more compact for carrying and storage.
Resting Pads
The special rest-pads allow the engine to be laid down on its back vertically or alternatively on its side.
Wide Span Mounting System
The large rubber mounts and the wide length between the mounts help to reduce engine vibration.
Power Trim and Tilt (F25LC only)
Yamaha’s push-button trim control makes engine trim and tilt adjustments quick, smooth and easy, across a wide range.
The negative trim settings allow for improved acceleration and the ability to bring the boat onto its plane more quickly.
Wide Angle Steering (Tiller Models Only)
The large steering angle makes steering highly responsive for tight manoeuvring around docks and other vessels.
Digital Network Gauges Compatible
These engines are compatible with Yamaha's Digital Network Gauges (Command Link), giving you the information needed to maximise engine performance and efficiency, including a Multi-function Tachometer with RPM, Hours Run, Trim Angle, Oil Pressure, Warning lamps and Variable RPM control - and a Speed/Fuel Management Gauge with Speed, Tank Capacity and Fuel Economy.
This engine is also NMEA2000 compatible allowing the F25 to share information with third party multi-function displays, GPS and fish finders.
Multi-Function Tiller Handle (Optional F25LC Model Only)
Incorporating the latest technologies, ergonomic design and practical features, Yamahas Multi-Function Tiller Handle delivers effortless control, maneuverability and comfort.
Trim, shift and throttle controls are conveniently integrated into the handle. Engine stop switch, ‘Start-In-Gear’ protection and integrated overheating and low oil pressure warning alerts are also built in.
The tiller arm angle is fully adjustable and can be easily positioned out-of-the way when not in use. Tiller steering and throttle resistance can also be customised to suit user preference.
ECU Micro-Computer Control
This Yamaha engine is controlled by an advanced microprocessor Engine Control Unit (ECU), which receives inputs from six major sensors located throughout the engine. This information is used to ensure the engine runs at peak performance, by delivering the right fuel/air mixture to each combustion chamber.
The ECU also detects any oil pressure, overheating or other operating issues.
Remote Control Security System (Optional)
Yamahas Customer Outboard Protection (Y-COP) engine immobiliser system is easy to use and highly effective in stopping unauthorised start-ups when your boat is unattended.
Simply push the button on the neat and simple remote to lock and unlock the engine. Available for both mechanical steering and tiller options.
Prime Start™ (Optional)
Exclusive to Yamaha, Prime Start™ makes starting a Yamaha outboard as easy as starting a car. It allows the engine to be started cold by automatically controlling the engine ‘warming up’ process - eliminating the need for a conventional choke.
With Prime Start™ you no longer need to ‘warm up’ your engine by revving it in neutral.
Fresh Water Flushing System
Simply connect a hose to the easy access connector to flush salt and dirt from the outboard without having to run the engine. Flushing the engine after each usage reduces corrosion and extends the engines life.
High-Output Alternator
A 16 Amp high-output alternator ensures that power is always available to start the engine, even after long periods of idling or running at low revs. This not only provides extra starting power, but delivers sufficient power to run the wide array of on-board electronic devices used in modern boating.
Easy Start Decompression Device (pull start)
For easy pull starting, these engines feature an auto decompression device fitted to the camshaft. This system releases pressure in the cylinder when the manual pull start is engaged allowing for light and convenient pull starting.
Mechanical Steering Control
The F25SWC and F25LC models offer a mechanical steering control system.
One-Piece Cowling Protection from the Elements
This engine features a one-piece outer cowling design with an intake air drain system, to easily and efficiently drain away any water that enters the cowling during normal engine operation. Incoming air is routed through a labyrinth of passages that help trap and drain water before it enters the engine’s intake, for maximum reliability.
Manuel Tilt Shallow Water Drive (Manual Tilt Models)
The F24SMHC, F25LMHC and F25SWC models feature a two-step shallow water drive system, which is extremely useful for tackling Australia’s shallow rivers, estuaries, creeks and when coming to shore. These engines also come with a four-step manual trim adjustment that can be modified depending on water conditions and boat load, for optimum engine performance.
A power, trim and tilt option comes with the F25LC model.
Start-In-Gear Protection
Yamaha’s Start-in-gear Protection stops the engine from being accidentally started in-gear. If the engine is not in neutral, the starter will either be locked for pull-start models or the power supply isolated for electric start models.
Over Rev Limiter
Acts automatically to stop over-revving which can be caused by cavitation and other means - helping to prevent damage to the engine.
Advance Warning Systems
Yamaha’s engines are renowned for their reliability, however, should a fault occur, you can feel safe in the knowledge that back-up systems are in place.
Yamaha’s advanced warning system provides clear audio/visual warning alerts for oil pressure, engine temperature and other key variable problems.
If a fault occurs, the engine RPMs will automatically reduce to help protect the engine and to allow the vessel to slowly make its way back to shore.
Vapour Reduction Fuel Return System
A precise amount of fuel that is required by the engine will be delivered to the fuel injectors. It effectively reduces fuel vapour, by making sure no extra fuel is sent through the fuel rail, which is located near the highly heated cylinder head. Any fuel not required by the engine is kept away from the heat.
Labyrinth Exhaust System
Yamaha’s proven labyrinth exhaust system reduces engine noise at low RPM and idle. A water sealed outer wall around the exhaust muffler effectively reduces exhaust tone for whisper quiet operation and enhances cooling which protects the exhaust system against corrosion.
Large Water Separator with Water Sensor
This easily accessible water filter separates water and contaminants from the fuel before they reach the fuel injectors for reliability and durability.
Long Intake Manifold
The long intake manifold increases torque at low speeds for better acceleration.
Anti-Corrosion - 5 Stage Paint System
Yamaha engines are known for their durability and high re-sale value. Part of this lies in the anti-corrosion protection.
Yamaha's exclusive YDC-30 aluminium alloy protects the engine's exterior parts, while a zinc coating, high-quality stainless steel, and 5-stage exterior paint coating offers long-lasting protection - inside and out.
